Shop Small: Jewellery and Accessories must haves this Christmas

Ok ok, we all know we should shop small. But when you’re not easily sucked into a vortex of thumb-achingly induced scrolling action looking at so many amazing small businesses on Instagram the way that we at Sassy Digital are, then it’s a little hard to know where to start!

So, we’re spreading the Christmas cheer, and we’ll be sharing a whole host of incredible small businesses that you can support this Christmas by shopping straight from their website! From fabulous fashion independents, to home, wellness and beauty - we’ve asked our community to send their favourites in to us!

This week, I’m beginning with the Christmas essentials; cards, decorations, wrapping paper and more.

Let me explain a little more about how each of these posts will work. I’m going to start them off with some that have been suggested to me, and that I’ve of course researched and given the Sassy seal of approval to. Then, I’ve love you to go and comment names and links to more small businesses in the comments! There’s hundreds of small businesses out there - so let’s help them to get discovered.

But before I get onto that, when I say ‘shopping small and local’ this Christmas - I’m not talking about popping down to the local supermarket express. It’s been a pretty tough year for most independently owned high street shops, and so please if your budget allows for it - go and support your local butcher, wine shop, greengrocer, bakery, and any other business you think could benefit from some community love. I know I will be, and more than ever in a year where we have mostly been avoiding other people - please let’s come together to support our shops!

I know plenty of girl friends who love their accessories. We all do, right?! Following on nicely from our clothing shopping guide comes our accessories shopping guide!

In this I have included handbags and Jewellery brands that I believe need to be shouted about.

Enough of my chit-chat, have a little look below.

  1. Suzie-Shambles Design

This little hidden gem is one for any of your friends and family that love quirky earrings. Suzie created this brand during lockdown and wanted to create jewellery that made people happy. Creating beautiful, hand-made jewellery helped keep Suzie grounded and focused whilst she was on furlough. With this, she created a jewellery brand that is unique, fun-loving and interesting.

Since beginning her humble brand, she has branched out to create beautiful & bespoke bookmarks as well. These are a must for the bookworm in your life.

She can also create custom pieces on request, but she generally creates small batches that sell-out fast! So be sure to get your hands on a pair of her gorgeous designs.

Purchases can be made via her adorable Instagram account, that I have linked for you below.

2. Alicia J Diamonds

Alision created her bespoke diamonds service because she felt there wasn't enough out there helping people when it came to choosing diamonds. She found that her son’s generation where completely overwhelmed when it came to scouting for the perfect engagement ring. She found that people just wanted to get the highest carat for their money, and realised that people didn’t understand that there is so much more to it than that; and with this Alicia J was born.

Alicia J Diamonds create beautiful & bespoke jewellery that’s perfect for the special people in your life. Take a look at their website for inspiration, and find out how to start designing special and unique pieces.

I have an amethyst ring from Alicia J Diamonds, and I also used their design service to get a birthstone ring made for my mum for her 60th birthday last year. If you get in touch with our friends at Alicia J, do let them know where you found out about them!

3. Kim Minchin Jewellery

Now this edgy jewellery brand is for all the gals in your life who want a little bit of luxury with a twist. Her designs are rock ‘n’ roll classics and can be sure to impress any of your girl friends.

The designs are timeless and elegant with a punk edge.

Now, here comes a little crossover, Kim also designs bespoke homeware! But enough of that, have a little look for yourselves and dive into Kim’s world.

4. LRM Goods

I’m slightly straying away from Jewellery here into a firm wardrobe staple; the perfect handbag. My friends over at LRM are masters of their craft and have created the perfect selection of stylish and practical handbags… with a twist… you can personalise them!

These luxury accessories can be embossed with you, or your friends and family’s initials to add a truly personal touch to the gift. This is sure to impress anyone in your life.

Have a little look at their gorgeous products below.

5. Alice Made This

I discovered this fabulous little jewellery company on Instagram and I am obsessed with them. This fantastic little brand caters to both men and women, and they work with engineers to ensure that each piece is crafted precisely. They believe in blending the function and technicality of engineering with the beauty of hand work.

This little company is unique as it creates pieces that blend a variety of different techniques from multiple industries, to make things even more cool, their jewellery is produced in an aerospace factory that ordinarily makes plane parts!

Have a browse of their gorgeous creations below.
